That’s not to say that the Columbus quartet are just playing tribute songs to those that came before them — the band bristle with an anxiety that feels inherently modern, born of the last decade’s confusion. It’s that they don’t feel the need to tone down or candy-coat their volatile sound; instead, they surge forward with pummeling momentum, as though caught in the throes of a panic attack.
