Netflix announced plans for a Joey Ramone biopic yesterday, 20 years to the day from Joey’s untimely death. The film will take its name from, and be based on I Slept With Joey Ramone, the memoir of Joey’s brother Micky Leigh. It will star Pete Davidson (Saturday Night Live, The King of Staten Island, Big Time Adolescence) and be directed by Jason Orley (Big Time Adolescence, I Want You Back). The movie has the complete support and cooperation of Joey Ramone’s estate. From 1974 to 1996, Joey fronted NYC’s the Ramones, arguably the most important and influential punk band of all time.
