Soul Glo cover System Of A Down’s “Soil” in new live session (watch)

Soul Glo have covered “Soil” from System Of A Down‘s classic 1998 debut LP for mental health organization Sound of Saving and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s “Song That Found Me At The Right Time” series. They did the song as a live session video, and they inject it with a punk rawness and totally make it their own. In the video, vocalist Pierce Jordan talks about how important music–and heavy music specifically–has been for his mental health. “Most people who play really aggressive music are pretty mild-mannered, and I feel partially it’s because you’re just able to get out all of those very extreme feelings,” he says. He also adds that “art is the only thing that keeps my desire to be here.” Watch the video below. ...
