Four years ago, Brian Magar of LAYR embarked on a quest to build an ‘80s inspired, turn-based strategy video game with his teenage son, Gage. The end result, Vulgord’s Tower, is a game rooted in high fantasy, wizardry, and woe. LAYR mastermind Brian alongside his wife Rebecca Magar also plays in the death/doom band Cultic and the dark ambient/tribal band The Owls ANWTS. Brian and his family’s penchant for metal music has been apparent on Vulgord’s Tower as the game pays homage to several heavy metal bands.
