Lexington outfit Aluxes take their moniker from the Mayan term for “spirit.” Indeed, much of the craft and attention to detail on their new EP 40 Rabbit Tavern wouldn’t have been out of place in the staggeringly advanced ancient civilization. The cathartic and atmospheric entry point to the EP is “Boscage Boogie.” The song tells the tale of animals retaking the forest, a two-pronged story of both fictional, wacky fun, and a more serious and poignant undertone of the very real issues surrounding human treatment of the environment.
