Three of rock’s hottest acts, Black Label Society, Nita Strauss, and Jared James Nichols played for a packed House of Blues in San Diego on April 30th. The night kicked off Black Label Society’s late spring/summer tour, in support of the band’s Doom Crew Inc. album, released last November. Having each band fronted by a formidable guitarist made this bill exceptional. The opener, blues-rock guitarist and vocalist Jared James Nichols, started the night off with “Hard Wired,” a song that showcased those unacquainted with Nichols as the dynamic performer he is. Backed by a bassist and drummer, the 33-year-old sings and plays his Les Paul as well as more seasoned and venerated luminaries in the rock scene.
