While flying the flag of NYHC, Merauder is known for helping forge the sound of “metalcore”. They were responsible for getting themselves onto Century Media, on one of the biggest independent metal labels of the 90s and today, alongside Metal Blade and Earache. Ironically, they were embracing these labels’ deep canon of death metal and thrash as those genres’ bands were changing, losing steam or just dying. Merauder was expanding the sound of New York – err, Brooklyn – along with the likes of Biohazard and later, Madball- beyond the scene. Growing from CBGB’s (NYC) and L’amours (Brooklyn), these heavyweights, flying Peurto Rican (and Italian) pride, dominated and created one the most legendary albums, Master Killer.
