So far, 2023 has not been particularly forgiving for Liverpool indie band Circa Waves. Ahead of the release of their fifth album, the band had a run of intimate album launch shows ready to go, only to find the shows cancelled after frontman Kieran Shudall was admitted to hospital with viral pericarditis. To further compound their plans, the frontman’s recovery meant their subsequent February tour was pushed back to June despite the release of their fifth album, Never Going Under, sticking to its planned January release. Picking up the resilient theme of the album, the Liverpudlian band finally hit the road in June for the long-awaited tour dates, and after fighting back from a tough start to the year, the dates found the band in fighting form.
