Veteran North Carolina indie rockers Superchunk have returned with their fourth in a series of records released since the bands reformation in 2010. Once the indie darlings of the 90s the band’s recent releases have pushed the group wholly into the future. 2018’s What A Time To Be Alive was a darker, brooding record that captured the heart of American turmoil at the time. Wild Loneliness in many ways is a polar opposite. From the opening track, “City of the Dead” it’s clear what type of record Superchunk are making here. It’s upbeat, joyful, and triumphant.
