The Beatroot Road – “Underground Roots” [Song Review]

The Beatroot Road, the new project of Mark Russell and Hazel Fairbairn, recently released their first single, “Underground Roots,” a song of hope, talking about the strength of roots to survive the seasonal changes of the overground world. Described as an alternative/world group that operates more like a collective, with established artists convening to release a new track every six weeks, The Beatroot Road will release their debut album in spring 2025. The concept underlying the project is to explore a variety of complex musical soundscapes. Kenyan vocalist Lucinia Karrey sings lead vocals, with backing vocals by Fuki-Anditi Julson.
