Norwegian vocalist and singer-songwriter extraordinaire Anne Marie Almedal is back with a hypnotic new single and video, “We Dance Alone.” The song was written and recorded in days of isolation over the pandemic and acts as a testament to Anne Marie’s experience in breast cancer discovery, treatment, and recovery. It moves away from the hazy shoegaze folk-pop of her previous albums, instead embracing echoes and references to pulsating 80s synthpop, 90s house, and today’s experimentation and glitchiness. “We Dance Alone” was produced by film composer and partner Nicholas Sillitoe, EvenS, and mixed by Tim Bran (London Grammar/Primal Scream/Dreadzone), and the track is also the first single from her upcoming album to be released early 2022.
