Indie-rock outfit Tide Bends has released their latest EP, Say Yeah, a blend of alternative, Brit rock, and shoegaze. Tide Bends arose from the 2015 meeting of Dan Nolan (vocals, guitar) and Dave Hough (drums). This was followed by the release of their debut EP, Greened, in 2016. Later, the band added Rudy Meir on guitar and synths and MJ Hancock, a multi-instrumentalist, on vocals and bass. The addition of Meir and Hancock elevated Tide Bends’ sound. Hough explains, “New harmonies and melodies followed almost instantly, and everything started sounding so big.” Say Yeah begins with “Birthday,” opening on a muted guitar riding a Filter-like rhythm, giving the song a dreamy, weightlessness.
