This Is What It Would Sound Like If blink-182 Wrote Green Day’s American Idiot

Green Day and blink-182 have long been considered two of the biggest titans of pop-punk… but what would it sound like if they merged? Well, YouTuber SugarpillCovers has kind of answered that question, reimagining Green Day’s 2004 smash single American Idiot as if it was actually written by Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker in the first place. The cover still has Billie Joe Armstrong’s signature vocals, but the instrumentation underneath is unmistakably old-school style blink – and it works incredibly well. Neither band especially sounds like that these days, of course, with Green Day opting for a raw blend of rock’n’roll with “soul, Motown and glam” on their forthcoming album Father Of All…, while blink-182’s just-released record...
