June 21st, 2023, the Summer Solstice. The longest day of the year in the UK, and as the hazy sun sets down behind the wonderful Piece Hall in Halifax, it’s almost fitting that this packed outdoor courtyard celebrates in the company of ‘cosmic Americana’ band The War on Drugs. The Philadelphia band is wrapping up a short UK run of dates before heading off to Dublin and then mainland Europe and are joined for the celebration by Los Angeles indie rock band Warpaint who is first to acknowledge the relevance of the date during their set and are almost the perfect warm-up to lead this chilled-out crowd through the early part of this balmy summer evening in Yorkshire.
