Five years after forming, Free Spirits, featuring pianist/composer Teri Parker, finally released their debut album Peaks and Valleys last week. Released via Modica Music, the album features both old and new. Free Spirits was originally considered a tribute to legendary jazz pianists Mary Lou Williams and Geri Allen. So Peaks and Valleys features both songs from Williams and Allen as well as some originals. The original part of the album is a five-song segment written and overseen by Parker. Although she received help from many collaborators, Peaks and Valleys is a Teri Parker production.
