“Miami Vice” is the new single from Parquet, a French experimental band based in Lyon. The single is taken from sparkles & mud, a phenomenal full-length album to be released on October 27 via Carton Records. The music video was shot in two parts: the first section (inside the television) was shot with a small crew in several locations in the south of France, while the second section was shot in Lyon’s Cinéfabrique. The slow tracking shot emphasizes the presence of pointless, stubborn, powerful, and peaceful determination. As in “brute,” their most recent video released in June, they focus on length and repetition while ignoring aesthetics. Parquet explores the concept of states, both physical and psychological.
