‘Punk the Capitol’, a new documentary chronicling the rise of punk rock in Washington DC between 1976 and 1983, is set to premier in theaters and virtual cinema on May 14th. The film features the music of Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Void, Rites of Spring and more. Of course, there are the obligatory interviews with DC luminaries Henry Rollins, Ian MacKaye and HR. Household punk names like Jello Biafra and Joe Keithley also chime in. The thing that separates “Punk the Capitol’ from previous docs about the DC scene is that it puts the punk movement into the greater rock and roll context.
