MC5’s first album in 50+ years finally coming out, will feature Tom Morello, Slash & more

Back in 2022, Detroit proto-punk legends MC5 announced that they’d be releasing their first album in 51 years, Heavy Lifting, that year. That didn’t end up happening, and since then band leader Wayne Kramer and drummer/last surviving member Dennis Thompson both passed away, and now the band says it’s officially coming out on October 18 via earMUSIC (pre-order) and new single “Boys Who Play With Matches” is out now.
