Country newcomer LECADE continues his streak of deeply personal songs that take a brutally honest look inward with his new offering, “Liquor & Cigarettes,” out now via Big Machine Records. In the track, written by LECADE alongside Jake Banfield and Brandon Manley, a heartbroken narrator acknowledges the less-than-healthy crutches they’ve been leaning on amid an ugly breakup. The pills, alcohol and cigarettes the narrator uses to cloak the memory of the lost lover provide sweet relief for a while, but after repeated use, the effect of the vices wanes, and the narrator is forced to confront their strong, messy feelings head-on.
