Juan Tigre – ‘Azúl Arriba, Blue Below’ [Album Review]

Using the nom de guerre Juan Tigre, alt-rock artist John Maestas creates weird yet wonderful ambient music reflecting the imagery of New Mexico on his new album, Azúl Arriba, Blue Below. New Orleans-based, Juan Tigre’s unique sound is influenced by artists such as J Dilla, Jimi Hendrix, the Pixies, and Thundercat. Well-known locally for his production and guitar talents, Juan Tigre has worked with Nicholas Payton, Christian Scott Atunde Adjuah, Alex Ebert, Papa Jon Gros, Fiend, Elzhi, and Nesby Phips. In 2017, he formed Juan Tigre in order to present his own music, followed by releasing his debut album, The Dream Catcher, in 2020.
