Using the nom de guerre Juan Tigre, alt-rock artist John Maestas creates weird yet wonderful ambient music reflecting the imagery of New Mexico on his new album, Azúl Arriba, Blue Below. New Orleans-based, Juan Tigre’s unique sound is influenced by artists such as J Dilla, Jimi Hendrix, the Pixies, and Thundercat. Well-known locally for his production and guitar talents, Juan Tigre has worked with Nicholas Payton, Christian Scott Atunde Adjuah, Alex Ebert, Papa Jon Gros, Fiend, Elzhi, and Nesby Phips.
