After promising last month that her still-to-be-announced fifth album will be “all over the place” in terms of genre, Halsey has delivered on those words with a brilliant new single entitled Lonely Is The Muse. Following the beautifully delicate The End and the Britney Spears-interpolated Lucky, today they throw things back to their previous work in the alternative world, with Lonely Is The Muse embracing the likes of her Nine Inch Nails-produced If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power album, or 2020’s Bring Me The Horizon collab Experiment On Me. The message is just as heavy, too, with Halsey screaming, ‘Lonely and forgotten aside,’ in the song’s outro.
