Indie-pop/alt-R&B artist Derek Simpson unveils the first single/music video, “Saturn Returns,” from his upcoming third long player, Somehow. Simpson will release each of the tracks in sequential order every Thursday for ten weeks. It began with “Saturn Returns” on June 13th and will end on August 15th. What’s unique about Simpson’s creations is his use of ancillary sounds – samples, remnants, and fragments – that add flexible, almost fractal-like accents to the primary melody. Based in Los Angeles, Simpson has produced songs for Kevin Abstract, Dom McLennon, and Rockie Fresh.
