Even without this much-appreciated motherload of extra songs added to this double CD expanded reissue of The Muffs’ Really Really Happy, the original album came in at a hefty 17 tracks. But this reissue tacks on six additional song (three of which have not been released before) and added an additional CD with 16 demo tracks. Too much of good thing? Absolutely not. The album, originally released in 2004, was their first after a five-year hiatus, with every previous record coming out in two-year increments, allowing the band to unpack from tour and then head right back to the studio. As a result, The Muffs deliver one of their strongest offerings, yet still managing to remain as spontaneous and tight as earlier efforts.
