The processed percussion that opens The Veiled Sea from experimental artist Six Organs of Admittance seem random, asynchronous, until the soft synth accents it, becoming something of controlled chaos. “Local Clocks” is both frenetic and soothing. It sets the tone for the rest of this purposeful, loose, and thoughtful record. The synths in “Somewhere in the Hexagon of Saturn” are other-worldly and the plucked strings complement them very well. A distorted guitar improvisation is reminiscent of Robert Fripp. While the performances and arrangement on this song are solid, the only that lacks is enough space to dream within it. The track, like others on the album, is at times suffocating. Yet it only moves at a steady pace. The listener sometimes yearns for a change in tempo. “All That They Lef...
