Compared to their other extreme metal comrades, we never really talk about feel or atmosphere when discussing thrash bands. For many/most/all, thrash is first and foremost about the almighty riff; anything else comes second. That idea is grounded in truth, as many of the style’s best anchor everything in the type of music that is meant to give a person’s neck a bit of a chiropractic workout. Bands like Metallica, Slayer, Havok, and Warbringer are renown for their ability to make furiously energetic music.
