Despite forming long before the pandemic, Belarusian black metal ensemble Khandra feel perfectly suited for this moment in time. Their name translates to the feeling of crippling listlessness or melancholy that takes over when in a state of boredom (sound familiar?), and the sound of All Occupied by Sole Death is driven by this pervasive atmosphere of existential terror. It’s a record defined by powerful moments and how it makes you feel, which is a massive credit to how impeccably written it is.
