Album Review: Just Friends – JF Crew Vol. 3

As the title states, this is the third volume of a series of three song Eps by California’s Just Friends, featuring two originals and a cover of Toro y Moi’s “New House.” The septuplet play an eclectic style of melodic rock and roll. They pull influences from everywhere, which gives them an adventurous sound. “Sunflower” has all the makings of a summertime radio single. It has a light and refreshing feel with light and inviting instrumentation. The chorus is simple yet memorable (“Just want to be in bloom with you” is a great line that fits well with the sweetness of the music). The song has a simple, lighthearted feel, but it is full of layers that add a layer of complexity. “Otis” has all the makings of a decent B Side.
