If ever there were a time to get absolutely, gloriously lost in one record, now’s definitely high in the rankings (gesticulates to everything). I don’t necessarily mean pure escapism, either. Like any work of art, there’s something truly special about the power of an album to take control of your thoughts, emotions, and perception of time. Legacy of Ruin is actually my first exposure to Eight Bells, though considering this is the group’s initial offering with a new lineup, it’s a logical time to come aboard the hype express. Guitarist/vocalist Melynda Jackson recruited members of Cormorant and Cave Dweller to complete the trio, and the new members feel like an essential part of the band already.
