Whenever someone talks to me about meditation, I laugh because true silence is horrifying (maybe I should see someone about that…). Whether I’m working, exercising, or unwinding, I’m either actively doing something, have music on, or am reading in as much silence as my wife and cats will allow me in a given day. The closest I get to true meditation is spending time right before bed, either lying down or stretching, with one earbud in and music playing at a lower volume. The action gives me a soothing sense of relief, allowing for the feeling of the music to overtake the actual sounds on display.
