Calexico’s inception occurred 32 years ago when drummer John Convertino first met multi-instrumentalist Joey Burns. Feeling a creative spark, the duo based themselves out of Tucson, Arizona in the early ’90s and embarked upon a successful career that has now spanned several decades. Along the way, the band has gathered an evolving cast of talented collaborators including (but definitely not limited to): Neko Case, Brian López, and Iron & Wine. While Burns relocated to Boise and Convertino to El Paso in recent years, the duo fittingly reunited in the Old Pueblo to create El Mirador, their 10th studio album.
