At first notice, Psychic Pigs didn’t sound like a band name, more like an illustration series by the late Frank Kozik. This new project from Brandon Welchez unlocks a furious upper-cut side to his writing style, one that’s the polar opposite of the garage pop melodies he’s been writing with Crocodiles for nearly two decades. The music is raw and fast, a clear departure from the harmonious muscle memory honed throughout his career and more into a sound that cuts like a sharpened hacksaw through metal.
