Genre-blurring, chiptuney emo band Hey, ily! have announced a new album, Hey, I Loathe You!, which follows their great 2022 debut LP Psychokinetic Love Songs and arrives October 25 via Lonely Ghost Records (pre-order). The first single is “(Dis)Connected,” a fusion of hard-charging emo-punk and video game synths that the band says was inspired by Asian Kung-Fu Generation and MSPAINT. According to a press release, “‘(Dis)Connected’ is a song about being uncomfortable with sharing your thoughts and feelings anywhere but the internet. When therapy is inaccessible, and the usual support system is seeming insecure, social media is a quick and easy, yet ineffective and mostly harmful, way to vent.” It all builds to a refrain where Caleb Haynes yell-sings ̶...
