Over the weekend, Green Day side-project The Coverups played a show in Costa Mesa, California with The Interrupters, and the night seemingly culminated in an epic Green Day secret show in front of a few hundred very lucky fans. The band started off the night performing covers (as per their band name) by the likes of The Ramones, The Clash and David Bowie, before playing two songs by another Green Day side-project, the Foxboro Hot Tubs. Then, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool surprised fans at the tiny Tiki Bar by busting out six Green Day hits, with a teaser of the rarely-aired Platypus (I Hate You) also performed by touring guitarist Jason White for the cherry on top.
