Hostilities are quartet out of Portland, OR that play a mixture of hardcore and rock and roll, leaning heavily on grooves and aggressive rock riffs. It’s an interesting take on the genre, as it’s the screaming throaty vocals of Larissa Perrin that add an extra layer of heavy to the music. Hostilities don’t mess around with tempos all that much. They stick to a medium to slower-paced drum beat on most of their songs, using syncopation to set forth the groove. They do have a few faster songs with breakdowns, but the majority of the album sticks to a slower pace. No Cowards is heavy, angry and aggressive.
