Album Review: Purple Dawn – Peace & Doom Session Vol. II

Ever since the time of metal’s forefathers Black Sabbath, doom metal has been an immensely popular genre all over the world. A great many bands have embraced it and given it a newer shape that it required from time to time. Likewise, German heavy psych/doom metallers Purple Dawn have truly encompassed the genre as their own. The quite experimental sound of Peace & Doom Session Vol. II took me through the alley of early doom somberness to the heavy and bluesy chills of the present-day. The album intro starts off with a classic groovy tune with mostly no singing, except for only once when the singer screams the title “Bonganchamun”.
