I’m not sure people have quite appreciated the hot streak New Jersey’s Fit For An Autopsy have been on since bringing vocalist Joe Badolato on for 2015’s Absolute Hope Absolute Hell. Either that record, The Great Collapse, and/or The Sea of Tragic Beasts are all found in just about every “best deathcore record” list I’ve seen. Some of the band’s Rodney Dangerfield treatment (“I can’t get no respect!”) is likely due to the fact that deathcore is unfairly maligned, but life’s too short to throw out a whole sound based on preconceived notions. It doesn’t hurt that the band have pioneered groove-based heavy music for this recent generation while also becoming much more melodic in their songwriting. If Gojira and Sepultura met and married/procreated in Gothenburg, Oh What the Future Holds might...
