Twenty-one years ago today, Slipknot changed the game with their self-titled debut album. A biting, caustic yet accessible diatribe against their hometown, society and pretty much everyone they’d ever met, it was just the right level of heavy, sweary and angry to tap into the angst-ridden youth – of which I was very much a part. I remember when I first heard Slipknot. It was the year 2000, I had recently started high school, and post-3pm I’d go to my friend’s house to watch MTV2 for hours on end.
