Folk Devils Reveal ‘My Slum Soul’ Video

The Folk Devils are set to return with the “Forever” EP, ahead of the release the band have revealed a video for ‘My Slum Soul‘, the darkest track from the EP. Conceived and directed by singer Dave Hodgson, this visual journey aims to punctuate the arc of the song’s story, a decline into desperation and bankruptcy, both literal and spiritual, and maybe by association, a rumination on the human scrapheap created by plutocratic rulers and their regard for wealth over health. The song itself is a departure from the band’s usual tempos and style, you might hear shades of early Magazine, Public Image Ltd., Gang Of Four, Killing Joke and others, all of which are valid considering the band’s post-punk legacy of the early eighties.
