Everything Everything – ‘Mountainhead’ [Album Review]

On March 1st, Everything Everything releases their seventh album, Mountainhead. At first, the 14-track recording highlights the instrumentals in the first song, “Wild Guess.” As the album progresses through techno, robotic, and, at times, floaty vibes, lead singer Jonathan Higg’s voice conveys the highs and lows. This album cycles through a whirlwind of emotions but remains generally positive and sounds optimistic musically, even with a darker overall message. The band explains that the album is intended to be a critique of late-stage capitalism and a general questioning of what our culture is developing into.
