It’s been thirteen years since Rebreather’s last full-length Sunflower. The album found the Youngstown, Ohio group transcending the stoner rock grooves they had established earlier in their career, working with a stronger sense of melody and ambiance. The songs, more grunge than metal, were crafted more concisely; the group honing in on a stronger songwriting craft. Then they suddenly disappeared. In 2018, a new lineup of Rebreather emerged to release a self-titled EP that found middle ground between their debut, Need Another Seven Astronauts, and Sunflower.
