Colorado tech death mavens Allegaeon unleashed their sixth studio album, DAMNUM, on Feb. 25. Produced by Dave Otero and released by Metal Blade Records, it is their first album since 2019’s Apoptosis. It is also their first album with new drummer Jeff Saltzman. The lineup of guitarists Michael Stancel and Greg Burgess, bassist Brandon Michael, Saltzman on drums, and vocalist Riley McShane were all involved in the writing of this album. DAMNUM translated from Latin means loss; something all members resonate with over the past few years. McShane and Burgess both lost friends to suicide and used their suicide notes as inspiration for some lyrics that made it onto this record.
