Following on from 2018’s The Silver Scream, Ice Nine Kills’ bloody sequel offers another 14 tracks of emo-meets-metal inspired by some of Hollywood’s biggest horror flicks. Much more than gimmick, though, this frightful overlay provides the band with the foundations to extend their theatrics more than ever before, and dabble in everything from evil emo-pop to hell-raising deathcore. Welcome To Horrorwood (the song) provides an early indication of INK’s intentions with this latest album. An atmospheric offering of My Chemical Romance-esque emo-punk, it explodes into life partway through and develops a more metallic edge, with the kind of solos that recall the best of Black Veil Brides and a dash of screamo that’s more in line with early Escape The Fate.
