After their last European tour in 2001 Todd Porter (aka Todd Cheat) and bassist Stevie D (aka Phillip Oliver Holes III) were sitting in a German airport talking about what kind of band they wanted to create next. When they got back to the US they put together The No Goods. A few months later they entered the studio to record an EP. After recording the EP the band found out that their name, The No Goods, was already taken. Changing their name to The Cheats, the band quickly struck a deal with Pittsburgh based Da’ Core Records to release their first album, Cheap Pills, in 2003.
