What sets Tallah apart from the many other heavy bands using nu-metal influences to add power and texture to hardcore is that they do something uniquely their own. During the genre’s golden age, no two nu-metal bands sounded the same, and Tallah have gone all-in on a mixture of nerdy vulnerability and pure madness that give them a sound unlike anyone else’s. Frontman Justin Bonitz never sounds like he’s trying to imitate any particular singer or rapper when he performs, but instead just spews and gibbers with an audible honesty. The result is a band who succeed where others don’t by seemingly having nothing to prove.
