News: THICK, A Place to Bury Strangers, and Rebelmatic Explore ‘DIY NYC’ in New ‘Dr. Martens Presents’ Episode

Featuring THICK, Oliver Ackerman (A Place to Bury Strangers) and Rebelmatic, this film explores how NYC’s DIY punk scene evolved from Manhattan’s Lower East Side to Williamsburg’s waterfront to the streets of Bushwick. Highlighting the importance of DIY venues in and around Brooklyn, this Dr. Martens Presents episode explores what it means to form a music community in a city that’s always changing. Highlights of the film include: Manhattan’s late ‘80s punk scene, Brooklyn’s loft shows in the early ‘00s, the importance of venues like Death by Audio, Glasslands, and Shea Stadium, and the future of DIY and the punk community in NYC.
