Fresh Produce Media have launched their debut collaboration with Audible, the ‘Punk In Translation: Latinx Origins’ documentary series, featuring interviews from Alice Bag, Jello Biafra, and Generación Suicida’s Tony Abarca. The eight-part Audible Original series started March 10 and aims to shine a well-deserved spotlight on the under-examined Lanix origins of punk, from Los Saicos and ? and the Mysterians (the band formed by Mexican-American children of migrant workers who became the unsung founding fathers of the genre), to the female Latinx drummer who was integral to the CBGB scene in its early days, the present-day queer Latinx punk activism happening in border-town Texas and East LA, and everything in-between.
