Inept‘s long overlooked full length “Images of Betrayal” was recorded in August 1997 and released on vinyl in February 1998, the album captured the expansion of what it meant to play hardcore at the time, influenced by the metallic heaviness that emerged earlier in the decade yet also moving towards what would come to be called screamo. As was the hallmark of many ’90s hardcore releases, the lyrics were deliberate, thought-provoking, and honest.
