Album Review – Youth Fountain – Keepsakes & Reminders

There’s been a lot of talk lately about nostalgia and the power the past has over us. It’s all over our popular media, where comic books, Star Wars, Ghostbusters, and even 70s-styled giallo films are all the rage. (Side note, if you like horror & thriller films and don’t yet know about giallo, hit me up.) Musically, pop-punk – which, of course, was dead and buried in 2002, 2006, and 2010 (and every few years thereafter) – is nearly as popular and potent as it was in the good ol’ Drive-Thru Records days. Much of that is due to a number of hip hop artists discovering what many of us did when we first fell in love with the genre: there’s something uniquely powerful about a good pop song with distortion.
