In the mid-1990s, Philly-based four-piece Wanderlust were already set on the path to fame. Signed to RCA, they got a gig opening for The Who and scored an opening slot touring with Collective Souls, a major coup at that point in time. Their debut, Prize, even managed to win over finicky music critics from the U.S. and even finickier critics overseas. But then RCA dropped the band in the middle of recording their follow up. The band limped on, finished the record, put it out on a tiny label, and called it a day. Frontman Scot Sax went solo and ended up writing songs for Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Meanwhile, guitarist Rob Bonfiglio launched his own solo career and performed with the Beach Boys and opened a tour for Brian Wilson. But there was unfinished business with Wanderlust—literally.
