Album Review – Midnight – Let There Be Witchery

Art has taken on a new meaning for me during the pandemic, not just an escapism but moreso a means of exploring and digesting the world around me through the lens of other’s creative endeavors. I love reading books, watching movies/TV shows, and going to art museums, but there’s something unique in the world of art about the magic of music, especially of the heavy variety. Ohio’s Midnight have understood this in their bones (and hooded heads?) since the beginning, but nowhere is that masterful, expert touch been put to more obvious use than in their latest. Let There Be Witchery still utilizes the band’s now-patented brand of blackened rock ‘n’ roll that takes cues from the past fifth years of amplified hard rock and heavy metal.
